WSBK Imola: Baz out to make amends after Assen let-down

After failing to fully capitalise on his maiden pole position at Assen, Loris Baz is seeking a return to the podium on his WSBK return to Italy.
Loris Baz is eager to make it back onto the World Superbike podium at Imola after being unable to fully capitalise on his impressive maiden pole position last time out at Assen.

The Frenchman scored a landmark Superpole with a crushing lap record around the Dutch circuit last month, but couldn't quite maintain the pace over a race distance, scoring a fourth place in the dry and seventh in the wet.

Slipping to third position in the overall standings behind team-mate Tom Sykes and countryman Sylvain Guintoli, Baz is nonetheless confident about his chances in Imola, where he was quick last season before a crash in Superpole hampered him come race day.

“I cannot wait to go back to Imola after the last race at Assen and I want to get back on the podium again to make up for not doing it last time in the Netherlands. I won my first Superpole at Assen, which was good for us all, but I wanted to finish the races higher up.

“Imola is a really famous track that I have learned to like because it is really hard. I had a nasty crash in Superpole there last year but I was fast, so I am confident for how it will work out this season. My Imola target is to get back onto the podium and score as many points as possible to maintain a strong position in the championship standings.”
