Team Alstare boss Francis Batta is celebrating after Bimota secured its first World Superbike EVO 'win' in front of its home crowd at Imola.

Having shown impressive pace from its first appearance at Motorland Aragon, Badovini would bounce back from a retirement in the first race to triumph over Leon Camier and David Salom, sealing a first win for the Italian marque.

Though Bimota still cannot be officially classified in the final results as a result of the homologation rules that make it ineligible for points, the result marks the latest step forward for the developing BMW-engined BB3 machine.

"I am very happy with our win in the EVO class - it is reward for all the tremendous effort everybody has put in since this project started. This was only our third race weekend and to get this kind of result so soon speaks about the strength of the Bimota BMW connection and all our hard work.

"I am very happy with Ayrton's performance in race two - especially considering that he rode the bike without any electronics assistance! Christian is making good progress and his pace was good enough for top three in the EVO class in both races.

"Although I am happy with the great results, my mind is on the future and with this bike I think our prospects are very good."

Despite missing the opening race, had Badovini been able to collect points, he would be classified fifth in the EVO standings, thus far.
