Sylvain Guintoli has kept himself in contention towards the top of the World Superbike Championship standings with a run to the podium in the second race at Donington Park at the end of an otherwise tough weekend.

A circuit where Aprilia have traditionally struggled in the past, Guintoli led the first race initially but while he would circulate in the front group for the opening half of the race, an off-track moment at the Esses would demote him down to ninth.

Recovering seventh, Guintoli redeemed himself in race two with a run to podium behind the Kawasakis of Tom Sykes, picking up precious points in the process.
