WSBK Sepang: Baz: Good tracks are coming for us…

Kawasaki's Loris Baz feels he is well placed for a WSBK title challenge as he looks forward to a series of 'good tracks' coming up
Loris Baz has cautiously hinted that his World Superbike Championship title hopes could be about to receive a boost in the coming rounds following an impressive turn last time out at Donington Park.

Though he would lose out on victory to Tom Sykes on both occasions, a pair of second place finishes around a circuit he says he has struggled at in the past has seen him scale the overall standings once again, the Frenchman level on points with Jonathan Rea in second place.

Indeed, Baz was delighted with his Donington results and believes he has a run of favourable tracks coming up which could see him establish himself further as a potential title challenger this season.

“After the previous round at Donington I have to be really happy because everything went well,” he said. “It was a circuit I had always been slower at than the other riders and it is Tom's home track, so it was really good to finish close to him in each race. Now the good tracks are coming for us. I am hoping to catch up a little bit in the championship and see where we can go from there.”

In the meantime, Baz heads to Sepang for the first time this weekend, a new challenge the Kawasaki rider is prepared for.

“I have never been to Sepang so I only know the track from the Playstation. It looks really nice and I have been watching the GP races there every year. I know it will be hot and humid but I have been training for those conditions and I think it will be no real problem.

“The circuit looks wide and quite fast so I am really looking forward to this race and enjoying the track. I am sure with the extra- long practice session we will have on Friday I can learn the track well. From there we can start to build for the weekend.”
