WSBK Misano: Davies focused on improving Ducati grip issues

Chaz Davies heads to Misano looking to improve tyre life on his Ducati 1199 Panigale after struggles at Sepang.
Chaz Davies says he will be working hard to work to improve tyre durability on his Ducati 1199 Panigale at Misano after both he and Davide Giugliano identified issues at Sepang.

Though the Welshman enjoyed a positive race day in Malaysia, a loss of grip in high temperatures after just a handful of laps prevented him from mounting a podium challenge.

With this in mind, Davies is hoping a return to one of Ducati's most successful WSBK circuits will help make the improvements he needs to ensure a strong race day performance.

“I had a difficult weekend at Misano in 2012 as we made a big change to the bike overnight before the race. I ended up racing fairly well, despite a crash, though to be honest I haven't had the best experiences at Misano until now.

“Having said that, it'll be nice to race in Italy again, and there should be a lot of local support. It could be a good track for the Panigale, with some tight corners, although as we saw in Sepang our main problem right now is maintaining grip in high temperatures. So we'll be working hard to improve edge grip over the weekend in order to be ready for the races.”

Davies seems to be getting it done this year, already ahead of his teammate who showed people the way at Laguna last year, impressive debut *for* the Italian team, now he just needs a little more one lap pace and a few more seconds in the race to really get people's attention.
