Team Hero EBR were left somewhat frustrated after missing out on the chance to make Superpole for the first time by just 0.014secs at Laguna Seca.

Eager to make the most of its prior knowledge of the Laguna Seca venue - a rare advantage for the manufacturer in what has otherwise been a baptism of fire this season - EBR began the day well with both Geoff May and Aaron Yates inside the top twenty after FP1, easily its most competitive session of the year so far.

With May holding onto a spot inside the top twenty after FP2, he needed to maintain that position in FP3 to ensure he would go through to Superpole for the first time.

However, not only was May bumped down in a remarkably tight battle for the available Superole slots, he would fall a mere 0.014secs shy of the position he needed to progress.

Despite this, May and Yates in 25th were both positive about their stronger performance overall and remain confident they can break their points duck come race day.

"It was a hard this FP3 because we missed our first Superpole by nothing and it is unbelievable to be so close" said May. "Anyway, we made another step forward and now we must continue to improve the bike in FP4 and for the races. Thanks to the whole team for continuing to work so hard."
