Tom Sykes will take the fastest lap time of the World Superbike weekend at Laguna Seca through to Superpole after setting the pace in fourth and final free practice.
With the three Superpole entry determining sessions taking place on Friday, FP4 is the only chance on Saturday for the riders to get dialled in ahead of the all-important qualifying session, with WSBK championship leader Sykes showing he will be tougher to beat than usual after posting a 1min 23.097secs lap.
Just over a tenth better than Chaz Davies' overnight benchmark, Sykes nonetheless still faces stiff competition from Ducati, with Davide Giugliano and Davies in second and third.
Jonathan Rea progressed to fourth place, ahead of Sylvain Guintoli, Leon Haslam and Marco Melandri, with Eugene Laverty, Loris Baz and Alex Lowes rounding out a familiar top ten containing all five leading manufacturer entries.
Outside the top ten, Sylvain Barrier was the leading EVO rider in 12th place overall, ahead of Niccolo Canepa, David Salom and Alessandro Andreozzi, the latter 15th fastest despite a crash.
