The confirmation that the remainder of the 2014 World Superbike Championship will be contested over just three more rounds may not mean there is just six races left to run.

The FIM and Dorna announced yesterday that the recently cancelled South African round at Phakisa Freeway would not be replaced on the schedule, leaving just Jerez, Magny-Cours and Losail as the remaining events for the WSBK and WSS field.

However, a somewhat ambiguous declaration in the official statement said 'a discussion within the SBK Commission will define any possible options to compensate for the available amount of points that will be missed'. understands a 'points compensation' could come in the form of possible extra races during one or more of the remaining rounds, or possibly incorporating double points to make up for the lost races.

Currently Tom Sykes leads the WSBK standings by 44 points, but the removal of an entire round - and a maximum haul of 50 points - puts him in a strong position to retain his title. Similarly, Michael van der Mark is now on the cusp of the World Supersport title with just three races of that season now remaining.

The logistics of hosting multiple races on a weekend has been trialled before, with the Superstock 1000 Cup getting two races at Silverstone last season after calendar changes resulted in the events being reduced to just nine events.

With no SSTK action taking place at the final round in Qatar, it would represent the ideal opportunity to double up the WSBK and-or WSS races, though previous events in Doha have seen race weekends run from Thursday to Saturday. As it stands, the Doha schedule has not been confirmed.

Though it remains to be seen whether the 'points compensation' discussion will amount to anything, we want to know what you would prefer to see for the remaining three events? Do you like the idea of double points, or extra races, or would you be happier if it remained as it is?

If the final 3 rounds could all be made triple-headers that would replace 3 of the 4 races lost to cancellations.
If you know anything about what is happening in Australia, you will know that the ASBK championship has been a farce and a total disaster this year. Please don't let WSBK go the same way. It's emabarrassing!!

Three races for the remainder of the year, with a gap of a month between them all is dreadful. What's happened to Buddh - SBK in Japan? There must be alternatives.

However,if no alternative venues can be found - triple-headers for the last 3 rounds would be acceptable.
