WSBK: Denning wishes Laverty luck in MotoGP

Paul Denning expresses his gratitude to outgoing Voltcom Crescent Suzuki rider Eugene Laverty ahead of his switch to the MotoGP Championship.
Voltcom Crescent Suzuki team manager Paul Denning has extended his gratitude to Eugene Laverty following the confirmation that the Irishman is MotoGP bound in 2015.

The Irishman has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks regarding his whereabouts for 2015, with Voltcom Crescent Suzuki now confirming it will part ways with Laverty at the end of this WSBK season.

WSBK runner-up to Tom Sykes in 2013, Laverty switched to Suzuki for 2014 but though he began his tenure with the manufacturer in style with victory in the Phillip Island opener, he has mounted the podium just once more since then.

Nonetheless, Denning was full of praise for Laverty's efforts during his time with the Crescent Racing team and wished him luck ahead of his move to MotoGP, with an as-yet-unannounced deal.

“We wanted to move forward with Eugene into 2015 but at the same time we completely understand his desire to compete in MotoGP. He has been a pleasure to work with and, even though a black cloud of bad luck seems to have followed us and the consistency of results has not been what we both hoped for, Eugene has given us and Suzuki some very special moments including of course the victory at Phillip Island.

“It is positive to see a skillful, intelligent Superbike rider's abilities recognised by a strong MotoGP team and all at Crescent, title partner Voltcom and Suzuki wish Eugene the very best of luck in this next stage of his career. We are looking forward to the last two rounds together; let's hope we can finish this season with Eugene as strongly as we started!

“Voltcom Crescent Suzuki is committed to building on 2014's potential shown in 2015, and to fighting for victories in the World Superbike Championship. Our rider line-up to allow us to achieve those targets will be announced in the near future.”

Voltcom Crescent Suzuki have a second-year option on Laverty's team-mate, Alex Lowes.
