WSBK Magny-Cours: Magny-Cours will suit Ducati, says Davies

Chaz Davies has high hopes that the Ducati 1199 Panigale will be well suited to the rigours of the Magny-Cours circuit.
Chaz Davies believes certain sections of the Magny-Cours circuit will play to the strengths of the Ducati 1199 Panigale as he looks to continue the manufacturer's hunt for victory before the 2014 WSBK season is out.

A podium last time out in Jerez has consolidated Davies' top six position in the overall standings, though neither he nor team-mate Davide Giugliano have been able to turn encouraging pace into a victory challenge.

Nonetheless, though the Welshman admits he has an indifferent record around the French circuit, he has high hopes the venue will be well suited to the twin-cylinder machine.

“I've had a few issues during race weekends at Magny-Cours in the past, whether technical or weather-related, but it will definitely be nice to get riding again after this fairly long break,” he said. “I've heard positive things about the test sessions that the development team carried out last week.

“The guys are working hard back in Italy and I think we might have a few small things to try out this weekend in terms of the balancing of weight. I'm fairly happy with my base set-up but we can afford to play a little with settings.

“There are certain sections of the track, like the fast changes in direction, which should suit the Panigale, and braking at the end of the straight is another strong point so I'm looking forward to getting out there and seeing what we can do.”

salieri: panigale has given a good showing when things have worked out for it - I feel that the effort Ducati have put into GPs may well have been at the expense of developing the Panigale? just a thought but I think there's a better bike hidden in there if someone took the time and money to develop it properly.........
Yep there is a better bike in there - it's called the Superleggera and it's all yours for £54,000! However Ducati do have a habit of trickling down parts from the top end models to the S and base models so expect (perhaps next year) to see some improvements to the Panigale. But I have to agree with the other posters - at present it isn't a good bike - scaffold pole handling, two stroke-like powerband, and noisy as heck with the exhausts where they are.
