Jonathan Rea moved to the top of the World Superbike Championship timesheets ahead of Superpole in Qatar, while title contender Tom Sykes produced his best lap of the weekend in second place.
The Kawasaki Racing rider, who comes into the 2014 WSBK finale with a 12 point advantage over Sylvain Guintoli, was only eighth best after FP3 but ended FP4 with the second best time, ahead of his main rival.
Indeed, even though Rea was four tenths shy of Davide Giugliano's benchmark from FP3, his time of 1min 58.246secs was still comfortably four tenths ahead of the opposition in the final session before Superpole.
Loris Baz followed his team-mate in third place, ahead of Guintoli, with Toni Elias, Leon Haslam and Giugliano completing fifth, sixth and seventh, while Marco Melandri – who will take part in SP1 -, Chaz Davies and Alex Lowes completed the top ten.
Having missed the entire FP3 session with electronic issues, more technical problems would consign Eugene Laverty to the garage for much of FP4 too, the Irishman getting out in the closing stages to set the 11th best time.
In the EVO class, Niccolo Canepa was quickest again, ahead of David Salom and Sheridan Morais, though the latter – along with Elias, Claudio Corti and Alessandro Andreozzi – would also suffer crashes during the session.
