Chaz Davies says he can be satisfied with the second row of the grid for the two World Superbike races in Qatar as he completed a positive day for Ducati.

The Welshman will start fourth for the two races, with team-mate Davide Giugliano on pole, Davies bouncing back from an indifferent performance in free practice to show well when it mattered.

"I am happy enough. The first couple of rows is where we wanted to be, so just missing out on the front row is pretty good. I think it is quite a decent position for turn one, so I am quite happy with the lap although I think we need to work on our race setting with the rear a little more.

"On Friday afternoon the bike was working well, but then we made some changes which weren't the right way in the evening. Then in FP4 we went back to the settings that were good, but the track conditions seemed to have changed a bit, so we lost some edge grip overnight.

"It is super sensitive for some reason. We don't change a thing and we don't have the same feel. We are not terrible, but we need to pick up the pace by a couple of tenths."
