Voltcom Crescent Suzuki team manager Paul Denning placed blame on Toni Elias for the crash that eliminated Alex Lowes from the closing stages of qualifying.

The Englishman was on his final set of tyres during Superpole and was following Sylvain Guintoli when the close-following Toni Elias got between them, with Lowes proceeding to crash at turn 13 as he attempted to regain momentum.

Indeed, Denning was disappointed to see the Red Devils Roma Aprilia rider put paid to Lowes' lap with his move and contributed to his crash.

"Alex was definitely on for a second row start but Tony Elias, a very experienced rider, completely compromised Alex's lap and contributed to his crash. Of course Alex could have shut off, found track space and tried again but the qualifying tyres here are good for one timed lap only so he had to push on and try to make the best of what had turned into an impossible situation."
