Michael van der Mark says he 'really can't wait' to make his World Superbike Championship debut as he prepares for his first outing on the PATA Honda CBR1000RR machine.

Having concluded his dominant World Supersport Championship title-winning year with a sixth victory in Qatar, van der Mark will step up to the Superbike class in 2015 with the same PATA-sponsored Ten Kate Racing team.

Though van der Mark has experience of Superbikes after two race-winning outings in the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race, he admits he is unsure of what he can expect from the full World Superbike specification machine.

"I really can't wait," he said. "It is a new adventure and I am really looking forward to it. I don't know what to expect and I am sure it will be difficult, but we will try as hard as we can."

His second year in World Supersports, save for a crash during the opening round, van der Mark was the rider to beat throughout 2014, winning or finishing second in each race thereafter.

"This year has been amazing. We won six races, the other races we finished second and just the other race in Australia I didn't finish. We were the most consistent and I am really happy to finish my Supersport career with a win."
