Nico Terol says he felt 'immediately at ease' on the Ducati 1199 Panigale R as he completed his first-ever laps on a Superbike during testing in Valencia.

After a career spent competing in the grand prix categories, former 125GP champion and three-time Moto2 race winner Terol switches to World Superbikes for 2015 with the privateer Althea Racing team riding a Ducati twin.

Set to race alongside experienced Ducati test rider Matteo Baiocco, Terol completed his first laps on the EVO specification bike that Niccolo Canepa rode in 2014, recording a best lap of 1min 35.0secs.

Despite his inexperience on Superbike machinery, Terol was pleased to be on the pace quickly and is looking forward to more outings.

"During these two days I've got to know the team and immediately feel part of a family. This is very important for me because we all need to work together to achieve the same goal. I came here with the strong desire to do well, and my approach with the bike has been very good.

"I immediately felt at ease, I really like the Panigale and lap after lap I was able to improve. I'm pleased because there was solid progression and especially today we had good pace. I'm getting on well with the team and there is great communication between us."

The Valencia Ricardo Tormo circuit was the scene for one of Terol's Moto2 victories with a win in the 2013 season finale.
