JR Racing BMW has confirmed Ayrton Badovini will join its team for its maiden assault on the World Superbike Championship in 2015, alongside Toni Elias.

With former MotoGP rider Elias being confirmed as JR Racing's first rider signing earlier this month, Badovini has now been announced on the team's second BMW S1000RR, a move that marks a return to the machine he rode with success 2011 and 2012.

An experienced WSBK racer having notched up 125 starts since his debut in 2008, the 28-year-old comes to JR Racing after an eye-catching - but brief - stint on the Alstare Bimota during 2014, another bike that was powered by a BMW engine.

Indeed, having sampled the bike's engine in an EVO capacity, Badovini - a former Superstock 1000 champion - is confident the combination of the new regulations and the input of former champion Troy Corser will see him be a front runner.

"I think the BMW S1000 RR is one of the best bikes for the new regulations. I remember the original BMW and I believe that the new bike can only be better. Having Troy Corser in the team will help our team's progress and my development as rider. I am very happy to be part of this new and exciting project and cannot wait to get started."

JR Racing, which will compete under the Dominican Republic flag, will make its World Superbike debut in 2015 with Corser acting as sporting director, while Gemma Voces-Pons set to be team manager.

Josh Brookes and Leon Camier had been linked with the team when it was first announced in October, though the former has since committed to Yamaha in BSB, while the latter is expected to be confirmed with MV Agusta this week.
