Leon Haslam had nothing but positives to say about the Aprilia RSV4 after lapping quicker in Jerez than he did on his former Honda machine during a two-day test with Red Devils Roma.

One of the series' most experienced riders, the 2010 runner-up switches from Honda to Aprilia machinery for 2015 having landed at Red Devils Roma, the Italian outfit becoming the manufacturer's de facto factory effort in World Superbikes so Aprilia can focus on its new MotoGP endeavour.

Riding the 2014 title winning machine for the first time in Jerez, Haslam was immediately comfortable on the RSV4, setting the third fastest time on the second day of action behind Alex Lowes and Tom Sykes.

Perhaps more notably though, Haslam's 1min 40.865s lap was four tenths faster than his best time on the Honda during September's Jerez race weekend (1m 41.338s).

Indeed, Haslam says he feels quick on the bike already and says he has reason to be 'very confident' heading into the off season.

"The RSV4 is a fantastic bike! Despite the changeable weather, I was able to work with my team and have realized that my riding style is already quite close to what I need to be doing to exploit the great potential of the RSV4 RR.

"I improved with each exit and it wasn't difficult to find good feeling with both the bike and the technicians on my new team. I'm going home happy and very confident ahead of the coming season."
