Moto2 race winner Jordi Torres has pronounced himself happy with his test on the Red Devils Roma Aprilia as he embarked on his first miles aboard the RSV4 Superbike at Portimao.

The Spaniard, who makes the move into World Superbikes for 2015 after enjoying success on the GP stage, comes into the year with relatively little experience on a 1000cc bike since his WSBK deal came after last year's post-season tests when most of his rivals were on track.

Indeed, save for some exploratory laps on a Kawasaki, Torres' test in Portugal would see him riding both a Superbike and the Portimao circuit for the first time.

Despite two days of interrupted running due to poor weather, Torres would still complete 79 laps and score a best lap of 1min 45.9secs. Though it was 2.4secs off Red Devils Roma team-mate Leon Haslam, he was otherwise pleased with the feel of the bike.

"I can't help but be pleased with our work," he said. "We took the best possible advantage of a half a day on a dry track. The feeling is good, the bike is working great and the team is perfect. Now we need to get in as many laps as possible.

"I need to get used to new tyres, a new bike and, here in Portim?o on an unfamiliar track too. Finishing the tests just a couple seconds behind an expert and fast rider like Leon boosts my confidence. Now let's just hope we can put in some good times at Jerez so we can keep growing."
