Sylvain Guintoli's preparations for the 2015 World Superbike Championship have taken a blow after a crash during the first day of testing in Jerez ruled out him of action.

The Frenchman, who will defend his WSBK crown on a PATA Honda after winning the 2014 title with Aprilia Racing, fell at turn one on only his fourth lap, the Frenchman hurting his neck and ankle.

Taking to Twitter to reveal a neck brace and the damage his fall caused to his helmet, he has not ventured out on the bike for the second day of testing.

One more day of World Superbike testing is due to take place in Jerez tomorrow before the teams head to Phillip Island for the official pre-season next month.

The crash is a particular blow for Guintoli, who has had fairly little mileage on the CBR1000RR in 2015 so far after both of PATA Honda's other tests in Portimao and Aragon were spoiled by poor weather.
