Kawasaki riders Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea revealed the colours of its 2015 World Superbike ZX-10R at a team presentation in the Mercat de les Flors theatre in Barcelona on Thursday evening.

With new regulations designed to limit costs and level competition implemented ahead of the 2015 season, the ZX-10R is believed to have lost around 15bhp when compared to its 2014 model.

Yet the second of two preseason tests at Jerez saw both KRT riders dip under the Superbike lap record set in during the previous year's race weekend and with Sykes and Rea placing second and third on the combined time sheets the team can boast of having two guaranteed championship challengers.

The Japanese firm's World Superbike programme is run and managed by the Catalan based KRT outfit who took the opportunity to thank new sponsor Monster Energy and Elf and Motocard, who will both continue to support the team in 2015.

Team manager Guim Roda said, "Today is a very special day for us because we are starting a new year and the best way to show this is to share it with other people. We want everybody to join this project together to achieve all the results we work to achieve. We have a special relationship with Kawasaki, working with them for many years and in 2013 winning the title, and finishing second last year."

Meanwhile Kawasaki's European Race Planning Manager Steve Guttridge used the team launch to declare his confidence in the 2015 rider line up ahead of the season opener at Phillip Island on the 22nd February.

"Before we go into 2015, we must remember that we did actually win the SBK Evo Championship last year with David Salom and KRT, which was a fantastic feat in itself. Tom won so many races last year that it was a credit to the team that they all worked so strongly together.

"We cannot thank the Kawasaki factory enough, their top engineers and their innovation is keeping the bike at the very top level to beat our competitors. That innovation and technology goes back into our production bikes as well.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our newest rider Jonathan Rea into the 'Team Green' family. I know he feels very welcome and has bonded with the bike. We are expecting really great things from him. And again to 'Mr. Kawasaki', Tom Sykes. We want him to regain that title and have a fantastic year again."
