Chaz Davies says he has found the front-end feeling which was missing on his Ducati Panigale R bike and is satisfied he is ready for the first round of the World Superbike championship at Phillip Island this weekend.

The Welshman is gearing up for his second season with the Ducati Superbike Team and on the final day of pre-season testing he rigorously worked on race pace and bike set up, finishing in sixth position on the final timesheet with a best time of 1m 31.296s.

Davies - who will be partnered surprisingly by three-time champion Troy Bayliss this weekend - will return to the Phillip Island track on Friday for the first timed practice session of the curtain-raiser race for the 2015 championship.

"In the morning of the final day we made a couple of positive steps forward and, by modifying the front end of the bike, I was able to find the feeling that I was missing yesterday afternoon," Davies said. "I put together a series of laps this afternoon and am feeling fairly confident in terms of race distance but we need to take the positives from this morning's session and move in that direction."

"We've definitely got a lot done here and I feel like we are a lot clearer about what's working and what's not, which is obviously a great way to finish the tests," Davies added. "When we return to the track on Friday I hope we can concentrate on the best that we've found in these tests and take it from there."
