Xavi Fores started the day as he means to go on by setting the pace in Sunday's morning warm-up session at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain.

The Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider has placed in and around the top six all weekend as he deputises for the injured Davide Giugliano. Fores headed team-mate Chaz Davies in the final session before his first World Superbike of the season.

Davies is the man that most occupied championship leader Jonathan Rea's thoughts on Saturday evening and he finished just over two tenths of a second back of Fores.

Along with the factory Ducati men, Tom Sykes was the only other man to dip into the 1m 51s bracket as he put in the third best time with pole sitter Leon Haslam fourth.

Jordi Torres was fifth, a place ahead of Rea, who will be looking to get a good getaway from the front of the second row in both races. Then came the Spanish trio of Nico Terol, David Salom and Rom?n Ramos.

Voltcom Crescent Suzuki's Alex Lowes was tenth.
