Michel Fabrizio will return to the World Superbike Championship and Ducati machinery for the fifth round of the 2015 season after being called up to replace the injured Nico Terol in the Althea team.

One of the series' most experienced competitors, Fabrizio enjoyed his best seasons when racing with the factory Xerox Ducati team between 2008 and 2010, scoring four race wins and finishing third overall behind Ben Spies and Noriyuki Haga in 2009.

Since then, Fabrizio has ridden Suzuki, BMW, Aprilia, Honda and Kawasaki machinery, but this year would mark the first time the Italian hasn't started a season with any team since his debut in 2006.

Nonetheless, he will get a belated return on home soil at Imola with Althea Racing, where he will replace Terol after he fractured his wrist in a fall last time out at Assen.

"I am very happy for this 'call' from the Althea Team," he said. "Although it will be for just one round I am enormously proud to be working in a team that I have always aspired to be a part of. I know that I have the trust of both the Team Owner Genesio Bevilacqua, with whom I also have a very good personal relationship, and the team members with whom I worked with back in 2005.

"It will be a very exciting experience for me, full of expectation being aware that I can finally show all my worth as a complete and competitive rider. Whatever happens, it will be a success."

A return to the Althea fold he raced with at Supersport level back in 2005, team owner Genesio Bevilacqua is pleased to have an experienced rider on hand.

"Michel Fabrizio is one of the riders who has always gravitated around the Althea Team. Way back in 2005 he had already ridden for our Supersport team; at that time he was only nineteen and he was already giving a hard time to well-known riders such as Muggeridge, Foret and Fujiwara.

"Today all of the Althea Team welcomes him with great anticipation. At the same time, we wish a prompt recovery to Nico Terol who, for one round, will be watching on television."

but he's not a bigger waste of bike than Toni Elias, who always get the chances, but never really delivers.[\blockquote]

Except for that WC in M2, of course. Even beat ole' Ross one time :)

If we were talking about Moto2 or GP, I'm sure Elias would be considered over Fabrizio. But Elias has a highest place finish of 4th on a RSV4. While Fabrizio has had podiums on Hondas, Suzuki, Ducati, Aprilia & BMW.
