Sylvain Guintoli says he is keen to uncover some much-needed improvements with his PATA Honda CBR1000RR machine at his adopted 'home' round Donington Park.

The reigning World Superbike champion says despite a difficult race weekend in Imola last time out he hopes to take the positives and find a stronger pace on his Honda machine for the British event.

For the French rider Donington Park will act as a home round as he lives in the UK and not far from the Leicestershire track.

"At Imola we were quite a bit off the pace and we still have some steps to make so I can ride the CBR the way I'd like," Guintoli said. "We've got some new things to try this weekend at Donington though, and it's really good that the team is working so hard and responding so positively.

"I really like the Donington track, especially the fast rhythm of the first part and, although some other riders don't like the back section, I see it as a couple of good overtaking opportunities and a lot of fun."

After switching to the PATA Honda squad at the start of the season the 32-year-old rider is yet to record a rostrum finish in 2015 but recently Donington Park has been a happy hunting ground for Guintoli.

While racing for Aprilia in 2013 and 2014 he notched up three podium appearances (two thirds and one second) in four rounds at the track.

"I've had some good races at Donington in the past and it's always nice to be racing at 'home' with my family close by," he added. "There will be a lot of friends coming to support this weekend so let's hope we can put on a bit of a show for them."
