Tom Sykes has pushed his way into top spot in free practice two at Donington Park and holds a precious two-tenth advantage over Davide Giugliano and Jonathan Rea.

The Kawasaki rider, who has notched up a double race victory weekend around the Leicestershire track in the past two seasons, had been trailing Leon Camier in FP1 but as the grid began to up its pace Sykes was able to take top spot with a 1m 28.574s.

Leon Haslam suffered a technical fault with his Aprilia RSV4 RF machine midway through the session and was forced to hitch a lift back to the pits. However, his lap time from earlier in FP2 was good enough to maintain a top 10 place which will be vital come FP3 and looking ahead to the Superpole.

As the riders gradually pushed on as the session progressed a number of them suffered small incidents at Redgate, rolling into the gravel trap after bailing out of turn one.

Alex Lowes' FP2 was cut short after suffering a lowside crash at the Old Hairpin five minutes from the chequered flag but he was still able to take seventh on the timesheet. Matteo Baiocco, Michael van der Mark and Haslam completed the top ten.
