Tom Sykes reinforced his pace over a single lap by topping the World Superbike morning warm-up at Donington Park, ahead of Red Devils Aprilia pair Leon Haslam and Jordi Torres.
The Kawasaki rider starts from pole position in Sunday's races, as has been the case for the majority of the weekend and Sykes will be the man to beat after edging clear of Haslam by nearly a third of a second.
The Aprilia factory team will be given a boost of confidence by this morning's results after its riders grabbed underwhelming grid slots. The walking wounded Haslam might be satisfied to head the second row considering his injury but Torres languishes down in 13th on the grid.
Championship leader Jonathan Rea ended the warm-up in fourth after running set up changes ahead of the races, followed by British duo Alex Lowes and Chaz Davies.
Front row starter Davide Giugliano finished the session in seventh as the top ten was completed by Michael van der Mark, Ayrton Badovini and Sylvain Guintoli.
