Chaz Davies hopes to halt his run of misfortune racing a Ducati at its home events this weekend in Misano and targets 'podium finishes or better'.

After grabbing two second place finishes on his Ducati home debut - Imola 2014 - the Welsh rider has suffered various issues in Italy which have prevented him from being satisfied with his results.

12 months ago Davies narrowly missed out on a rostrum in race one at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and crashed out in race two. Earlier this season back at Imola, Davies failed to reach the chequered flag in both races due to mechanical faults. The Brit is looking to put these disappointments behind him and grab a strong result in front of Ducati's home crowd.

"I'm looking forward to the weekend as I love racing in Italy, though hopefully the weekend will bring more success than we had in Imola," Davies said. "Last year's first race at Misano went pretty well and I finished fourth but unfortunately in race two I made a mistake and crashed."

The Misano circuit has recently gone under resurfacing work which will add an element of unknown to the upcoming race weekend but Davies says he's confident he can fight for the rostrum places.

"The resurfaced track should help with the grip situation which is always critical in Misano, especially with what are generally very high temperatures. I'm optimistic going into the weekend and plan to fight for podium finishes or better."
