Leon Haslam says having Max Biaggi as his Aprilia team-mate will be 'very special' and hopes the former World Superbike champion can help him take the fight to Kawasaki and Ducati at Misano.

The Team Aprilia Racing - Red Devils rider has slipped to third in the riders' standings behind Tom Sykes but after grabbing his first podium finish in race two at Portimao since round three at Aragon, Haslam feels there is no reason why he can't challenge at the front this weekend.

The British rider sees the addition of Biaggi as a wild-card to the Aprilia squad for the next two rounds as something he can use to his advantage and is hoping the Italian can shake things up at the front.

Haslam currently trails runaway championship leader Jonathan Rea by a whopping 131 points but with six rounds of the season remaining he hasn't given up hope.

Autonomous: Biaggi is a weirdo plain and simple. Of all the comebacks I'd like to have seen this isn't it, looking forward to seeing him get his ar5e kicked[\blockquote]

Besides...as I said before, I very much doubt he will even see any of the green bikes after the 1st lap...
