Davide Giugliano and Ducati climbed to the top of the World Superbike time sheets for the first time during their home round in FP4.
Having watched countryman Max Biaggi steal the limelight on Friday, Giugliano stepped up to post a sub 1m 35s lap time – only the second of the weekend – to narrowly lead Leon Haslam by 0.062s.
A session in which he only posted three flying laps, Giugliano once again demonstrated he possesses the speed over a single lap but his race pace remains in question.
Runaway title leader Jonathan Rea ended the session third after posting an 18-lap run. In a warning to the rest of the field, all of Rea's times bar one were in the 1m 35s, his consistency as impressive as ever.
Biaggi ended a productive session in fourth after stringing a consistent nine-lap run together in the second half of the 30-minute shakedown.
After finishing FP3 in a lowly 17th, Michael van der Mark made great strides to place fifth while Tom Sykes, a surprising addition to this afternoon's Q1 session, was sixth.
Unable to match his 1m 34s time from Saturday morning, Jordi Torres was the third of the Aprilias, one place ahead of the continually impressive Michele Pirro. Chaz Davies was the last of the three 'factory' Ducatis in ninth.
