Alex Lowes believes he achieved the best possible result in World Superbike qualifying at Misano as he set the seventh fastest time of the afternoon.

Feeling the benefits from a timely post-race test in Portim?o after round seven of the series, Lowes was confident of challenging the top six in both races at the close of Friday's free practice sessions.

As he pushed on in Superpole 2, Lowes' final time of 1m 34.811s was just over half a second from Tom Sykes' best effort and left the 24-year old in a positive frame of mind ahead of Sunday.

Despite suffering some issues in FP3, Lowes ended the session in an impressive fourth overall, before positing a 17-lap race run in FP4. With his pace hovering around the low 1m 36s, Lowes is keen to secure two 'solid' results on Sunday.

"We had some problems in the practice this morning but we still managed a decent lap at the end. In FP4 we did a race simulation - it went well, we still have a few things to improve on but the pace was there - and in qualifying we did a good job.

"No mistakes, I enjoyed riding the bike and it wasn't too far away but we just need two solid results tomorrow - whatever the result as long as I do my best and don't make any mistakes I'll be happy!"
