Jordi Torres says it is a 'dream come true' to be starting on the front row for the ninth World Superbike Championship round at the iconic Laguna Seca venue.

The Spaniard was a surprise contender during Superpole as he breached what had been a dominant weekend performance thus far by Ducati and Kawasaki by getting well amongst them on the Red Devils Roma Aprilia.

Putting in a lap good enough for third on the grid, Torres says the opportunity to be starting out front on such a famous circuit is a career highlight for him.

"Being on the front row here at Laguna Seca is a dream come true for me. When I first got here I never would have even imagined achieving this result. Playing the video games I would always win on this circuit which I have always liked, but being third in Superpole has a decidedly different taste.

"We did a good job and finally I was able to take full advantage of the soft tyre. It is just a first step and my goal in the race is to stay with the leaders to learn from them, using the battle to continue growing and improving my riding style. This is a short track with only a few points where you can overtake, so starting out front is essential."

Former Moto2 race winner Torres is currently fifth in the standings and has scored one podium finish so far, at Imola.

A win would be great, but also a podium on two would do nicely, good result despite i think he's never driven on there as moto2 don't go there?
