Sylvain Guintoli says he wants to end his year with Pata Honda on a high and grab his first podium finish of the season at Magny-Cours.

The 2014 World Superbike title winner has recently been announced as part of Yamaha's return to the championship with Crescent Racing, marking an end of his brief partnership with Honda and his third team swap in as many years.

The French rider has struggled to get the Honda CBR1000RR to fight at the sharp end but has consistently finished inside the top ten this season. Guintoli is targeting a long-awaited podium result to leave the Honda team on positive terms.

"The CBR package has improved so much since the start of the year and I was able to be competitive in Sepang," Guintoli said. "I struggled to find a rhythm in Jerez but Michael van der Mark showed that the bike is strong there, too, and those are two circuits which haven't been great for the CBR in the past.

"We know we can get there now and it would be great to hit the sweet spot again this weekend and get my first podium for the team. I really want to finish the season on a high and this would be a good place to do it."

Guintoli has fond memories at the French circuit having finished on the rostrum in every World Superbike race for the past three years, including two victories, and is optimistic he can deliver similar results on the Honda.

"I'm really looking forward to this weekend because Magny-Cours has been good to me over the years," he said. "I love the track and always get great support there from the fans, who have been building in numbers in the last few years. The circuit has done a great job in increasing the crowd so it's turned into a fantastic event in the calendar.

"I haven't been off the podium there in the last three years so I'll be aiming to carry on that form at the weekend."
