Max Biaggi has ruled himself out of his third wildcard appearance of the season in World Superbikes due to an injury suffered in a mountain bike accident.

The two-time World Superbike champion confirmed yesterday via his personal Twitter account that he had sustained a bad injury while training for the final round of the World Superbike championship in Qatar and after a medical examination has pulled out of racing this weekend.

The 44-year-old Italian has explained that during a training session mountain biking around the hills of his Monte Carlo home he suffered a nasty fall, in which he damaged his left adductor, hip and abdominal muscles.

Shame, but I sense that Max is the kinda guy who will keep riding as long as he can get on the thing - hope we see him again in 2016!
