Alex Lowes says he couldn't hide his disappointment after the double engine failure in his final race weekend with Suzuki before switching to Yamaha machinery for 2016.

The British rider is set to remain with Paul Denning's Crescent squad as it begins a new partnership with Yamaha, who is preparing to return to the World Superbike stage next year.

Lowes was naturally eager to enjoy a positive send off with Suzuki but his optimism was transformed into frustration after being forced to retire from race one in Qatar with an engine problem while battling for third with Ducati's Chaz Davies.

His race weekend ended in disaster when his new engine for race two conked out on the warm-up lap, leaving the British rider thoroughly downbeat after his last race with Suzuki.

"It's such a disappointing way to end the season as we had made a huge step forward and an even bigger one on race day, after a difficult day on Friday," Lowes said. "We were fourth in warm-up and sitting third in the first race and I felt comfortable enough with the bike to fight with the riders around me when the bike stopped.

"We changed the engine for race two but unbelievably on the warm-up lap it tightened up and I had to pull into pit lane. It couldn't be a more disappointing way to end the year."

Despite his misfortune Lowes has thanked the Suzuki factory for its unwavering support over the last two seasons, after graduating from British Superbikes as champion in 2013, and is already focused on the new challenge with Yamaha.

"Thank you to the whole Voltcom Crescent Suzuki team for all their hard work and everyone at Suzuki and Yoshimura for their support over the last two years," Lowes added.

The Lincolnshire rider ended the season 10th in the World Superbike standings having claimed one rostrum result in 2015, a third place in race two in Thailand.
