Alex Lowes says once the weather cleared up he was able to produce his 'best-ever lap' around the Motorland Aragon circuit during the new Crescent Yamaha team's second winter test.

The former British Superbike champion completed 88 laps across the two-day test in North-East Spain despite the inclement weather and dense fog curtailing some of his running time.

Having enjoyed an initial test on the Yamaha R1 earlier this month at Jerez, Lowes is satisfied with the progress made over the two days at Aragon and without revealing his lap times says he's thrilled with the results.

"We did a race simulation and then some work on the bike, setting-wise, getting a better feeling on corner-entry," Lowes said. "We are getting better every time we go out, we still have a lot to learn but I feel really good, it was my best-ever lap around here and I'm starting to really understand the YZF-R1.

"I still feel like there is a lot more to come but it was fun and I am feeling like I was getting more out of the bike this afternoon."

Lowes was joined by new team-mate Sylvain Guintoli as the pair continued to get to grips with the Yamaha R1, ahead of the Japanese manufacturer's return to the World Superbike championship after three years out, with Paul Denning's Crescent Racing team supported by Pata as title sponsor.

Lowes will resume winter testing by returning to Jerez on Wednesday 25th November, shortly before the ban on testing between December and mid-January.
