Eurosport has secured a contract extension with Dorna to broadcast the World Superbike championship up to and including the 2019 season.
The new deal, which keeps World Superbike on Eurosport for 2017, 2018 and 2019, will see the channel broadcast live every round of WSBK, WSS and WSTK 1000 with the company set to celebrate its 20th anniversary showing the international series in 2017.
As well as live broadcasts on its television channels, World Superbikes will also be show across Eurosport's digital platforms Eurosport player.
Peter Hutton, Chief Executive Officer at Eurosport, is thrilled to secure a new deal until 2019 with World Superbikes and its exclusive agreement in the UK with Dorna.
“Dorna WorldSBK has been a great partner of Eurosport's for almost 20 years and we are pleased to continue the relationship until 2019,” Hutton said. “Eurosport viewers are already excited to seeing how reigning champion Jonathan Rea defends his number 1 plate when the 2016 season lines-up later this month and can they look forward to the story continuing on Eurosport for three more seasons.
“We see excellent ratings and viewing figures for the Championship, especially in the UK where fans enjoy exclusive and bespoke coverage from a dedicated Eurosport production team on the ground, so we are happy to maintain that exclusivity in the new agreement.”
The 2016 World Superbike championship gets underway from Phillip Island in Australia on the 26-28 February.
