Dall'Igna: MotoGP, WSBK teamwork make Ducati stronger

Last season the Italian manufacturer represented Kawasaki's sole challenger for WSBK honours but came up short by finishing runner-up in the manufacturer's championship while Chaz Davies ended 2015 in second place behind champion Jonathan Rea.

Since the 2015 campaign came to a close in Qatar Ducati has undergone an extensive winter testing programme as well as introducing experienced crew members into the WSBK squad from MotoGP.

Marco Zambenedetti, a former Ducati MotoGP engineer, joins the team for 2016 while Davide Giugliano welcomes Aligi Deganello as his new chief engineer and Paolo Biasio who will be in charge of the electronics on his 1199 Panigale R.

Ducati Corse General Manager Dall'Igna feels a more open relationship between the manufacturer's MotoGP and WSBK efforts has already heralded improvements and is keen to see this continue this season.

“In my first two years in Ducati we have tried to improve the flow of information between MotoGP and WSBK, something that allowed us to improve on both fronts,” Dall'Igna said. “For 2016, the WSBK team has a few changes. We have brought Marco Zambenedetti, an engineer who comes from MotoGP, into the team and on Giugliano's side of the garage two very experienced technicians, Aligi Deganello and Paolo Biasio.

“The Panigale R has undergone further developments in its suspension, electronics and engine. We were protagonists in the winter tests, something that allows us to start 2016 with one aim: to win the title.”

SoSlo: translation: by splitting our focus and speaking in marketing jargon we have neglected to build a race winnning bike in either WSBK or MotoGP even though the rules are bent to Ducati's favor in both series

Luvnit: For crying out loud, what has Stoner got to do with WSB?
Well, he's a test rider. Michele Pirro, as a Ducati test rider, got two WSBK and three MotoGP wildcards last year.
