Tom Sykes says Kawasaki won't be too disheartened leaving Aragon without a win and will look to take the battle to Chaz Davies and Ducati next time out.

The Yorkshire rider, who claimed pole at the Spanish circuit before clinching a second and third place finish in the races, says Kawasaki struggled to take on Ducati for race pace but feels the track plays to the strengths of his Welsh rival and the Panigale R. Davies dominated to a double victory weekend at Aragon and Sykes feel his Kawasaki squad notched up its best possible results in the circumstances.

"We cannot be downbeat because sometimes it happens that you have a circuit that is great for a certain package and Chaz is always on form here," Sykes said. "We will come back in Assen and try to be stronger again."

Sykes has also said he and Kawasaki will work tirelessly between Aragon and the next round at Assen in two weeks to cure its rear tyre wear woes to reclaim top spot in the Netherlands.

"In terms of race position it was an improvement on Saturday and that is what we need to focus on," he explained. "I think the gap to the front is bigger than it should be but it looks like yesterday, after the information we took from race one, our rear tyre was not performing to its best and today we did not have as much spin. We have more information now and I hope we can use this to our advantage."
