WSBK Assen, Netherlands: Torres hopes for Althea BMW boost after Jerez test

Jordi Torres is aiming to implement what his Althea BMW squad has learnt from mid-season testing at Jerez in the fourth round of the 2016 World Superbike championship at Assen.

The Spaniard has been enjoying race-by-race improvements adapting to the BMW S1000RR which culminated in a fifth place in race two at Aragon last time out.

Coupled with Reiterberger's fifth place in race one in Thailand, it is the first time a BMW machine had jumped into the top five since the British round last year as the Italian team looks to coax the maximum potential out of the machine at World Superbike level having switched from Ducati over the winter.

Althea BMW has run an in-season test with Torres and Reiterberger at Jerez during the build-up to Assen and the former race winner is hoping to build upon the information gathered this weekend.

“We're keen to get to Assen, such a special track full of history,” Torres said. “The recent tests at Jerez provided us with a lot of data that will be helpful as we prepare for the Dutch races. I think we'll be more prepared and relaxed as a result, having taken a step forward.

“Assen is unique with its chicanes so we'll need a bike that is strong in the changes of direction. I'm continuing to adapt to my BMW and so I hope we can complete two good races this weekend, in line with my expectations."

Torres jumped to seventh in the World Superbike championship standings thanks to his best result of the season to put him level on points with Crescent Pata Yamaha's Sylvain Guintoli.
