Davide Giugliano has shot to the top in the final free practice session at Assen as the wet weather continues to challenge the World Superbike grid.
After rain plagued Friday's session which saw Alex Lowes rise to the front for Crescent Pata Yamaha the wet conditions remained for the short 15-minute FP3 and with qualifying and Saturday's race one just hours away the majority of the field played safe to not risk crashing.
Despite this, Italian Giugliano still managed to go within a second of Lowes' top time which left Sykes trailing again in second and Sylvain Guintoli on the sister Yamaha in third. Defending champion Rea kept pace with the leaders in fourth and he will be looking to replicate his dominant double at Assen from 12 months ago.
Nicky Hayden claimed fifth in FP3 ahead of Alex de Angelis who split the Hondas with local start Michael van der Mark in seventh. Leon Camier enjoyed the best improvement to rise to eighth with Lowes setting just one timed lap to go ninth with surprise package wildcard Pawel Szkopek rounding out the top ten for Team Toth.
Just outside the top ten lurked Lorenzo Savadori, double winner at Aragon Chaz Davies and Milwaukee BMW's Josh Brookes.
