Chaz Davies has pulled out over half a second on nearest rival Tom Sykes heading into Superpole qualifying as the Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider continues to dominate at Imola.

The Welsh rider topped both Friday practice sessions and looked in control once again making him a strong favourite for pole position at his squad's home event.

Sykes has been able to maintain his position in second and ahead of Kawasaki team-mate Jonathan Rea as Davide Giugliano enjoyed some late gains to move to fourth.

The Italian's improvements bumped Leon Camier on the MV Agusta down to fifth as Markus Reiterberger held station in sixth for Althea BMW ahead of Sylvain Guintoli on the Crescent Pata Yamaha.

Aprilia claimed eighth in the session thanks to Lorenzo Savadori as Spanish duo Jordi Torres and Xavi Fores completed the top ten, just ahead of Honda duo Nicky Hayden and Michael van der Mark.
