Sylvain Guintoli has been diagnosed with a fracture to the ankle after suffering a spectacular accident during World Superbike qualifying at Imola.
The Frenchman got out of shape on the PATA Crescent Yamaha as he exited the second part of Acqua Minerale, being flung into a lofty high-side and landing heavily on his ankle and back.
Taken to hospital, Guintoli has subsequently been diagnosed with a broken ankle, a concussion and multiple contusion, but other medical assessments conducted have been negative so far according to the official World Superbike Twitter
Guintoli will be kept in hospital overnight, though it isn't known whether the extent of the injuries will rule him out of one or more races.
Guintoli is one of three riders who have been ruled out of the Imola WSBK round because of injuries sustained during the event, with Roman Ramos and Lucas Mahias also suffering ailments.
