Alex Lowes will be the sole representative for the Pata Crescent Yamaha squad at Sepang after it was confirmed Sylvain Guintoli will be unable to return from his injury and the squad has chosen not to field a replacement rider.

Guintoli suffered a heavy high-side crash during qualifying at Imola two weeks ago and sustained a broken ankle, concussion and multiple contusions. The 2014 World Superbike champion has been forced to sit out of the sixth round due to his ankle injury after taking medical advice.

Pata Crescent Yamaha says because of the short two-week turnaround between Imola and Sepang it has not been able to field a suitable replacement and therefore Lowes will be the sole factory Yamaha rider for the Malaysian round.
