WSBK Donington Park: Beaubier to sub for injured Guintoli

Official: Cameron Beaubier will act as replacement rider for the injured Sylvain Guintoli at Pata Yamaha's home Donington Park round.
As rumoured on Crash.net earlier today, Cameron Beaubier will act as replacement for the injured Sylvain Guintoli at Pata Yamaha during its home Donington Park round.

The reigning Moto America Superbike champion will thus be making his World Superbike debut, after impressing stateside with Yamaha on his way to the 2015 title.

"I feel really fortunate that the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team is giving me this opportunity to be a part of the team for the weekend while Sylvain is healing up,” Beaubier said. “I'm also thankful that Yamaha US is allowing me to do this in the middle of our season. It will be a tough weekend with lots of learning but I'm going to do my best and have fun."

“This is a great opportunity for Cameron,” said Keith McCarty, Motorsports Racing Division Manager for Yamaha Motor Corporation. “It's a perfect example of how our rider support program is working to prepare and promote Yamaha riders here in the U.S. to compete on the world stage.

“Cameron raced in a round of the German Superbike Championship last year, and competing for the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team at Donington next weekend will be another big step in his racing career. All of us at Yamaha U.S. are proud of Cameron, and we'll definitely be cheering him on!”

Regular Pata Yamaha rider Alex Lowes will be team-mate to the American, riding through the pain after undergoing surgery to plate his broken left collarbone suffered in a wet race two at Sepang.

Guintoli will continue his rehabilitation and recovery from ankle surgery and is expected to be present at Donington Park to support the team.

Hope he gets a good result. Hope he goes wsbk and stays. All these kids want GP but most will be forgotton and wasted. The top 4 guys in GP other than marquez have been there for a decade or more and how many riders have come and been forgotten in the last 10 years?
