Chaz Davies says returning to his home round won't act as a distraction to his development ethos with the Aruba.it Racing Ducati and has faith the Panigale's 2016 gearbox can provide an added boost.
After grabbing a double rostrum result last year at the Leicestershire track, Davies is gunning to halt the Kawasaki dominance after it claimed a double one-two 12 months ago with Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea.
Despite the home comforts, the Welsh rider is keen to continue his development work on the Panigale R which has helped him notch up four wins so far this season as he looks to slash the points deficit to championship leader Rea which currently stands at 42 points.
“It's always nice to see everybody and ride in front of my family and friends, but on the other hand it's just another race and it's important not to get too carried away and to maintain the same approach,” Davies said. “Our goal is, as usual, to be competitive from the very first session and keep improving throughout the weekend to finish in front.
“It won't be easy to beat the competition, especially Sykes, but last year we already made a step in the right direction after a difficult 2014, and I believe that the different gearbox could give us some extra help.”
