WBSK Misano, San Marino: Lowes remains uncertain on fitness ahead of Misano

Alex Lowes says he still doesn't know whether he'll be back to full fitness at Misano after being forced to withdraw from his home round last month.
Alex Lowes says he still doesn't know whether he'll be back to full fitness at Misano after being forced to painfully pull out of his home round three weeks ago at Donington Park due to injury.

The PATA Yamaha rider suffered a broken collarbone in a crash during the wet race two at Sepang and despite completing Friday free practice at his home round just two weeks later he made the brave decision to withdraw from racing as it would have been dangerous to race in his condition.

Having had three more weeks of recovery time, while also taking a role in the in-season test at Misano, Lowes says he won't be certain of being competitive with his injury until he is back on the Yamaha this weekend.

“The biggest question mark at the moment is me, not the bike, so I am working as hard as possible to be close to full fitness and aim to get the results we all deserve,” Lowes said. "I'm really looking forward to Misano as our bike has been making a lot of progress recently.

“It's also a track where I believe we can be competitive. It's a great track and a great part of the world so I can't wait to get there and get started."

Lowes will be joined by Pata Yamaha Superstock 1000 rider Niccolo Canepa who steps in for the injured Sylvain Guintoli. The former World Superbike champion had targeted a comeback at Misano after breaking his ankle at Imola last month but has been forced to delay his return.
