Jonathan Rea is focusing on retaining his points advantage at the top of the World Superbike championship after finding a happy rhythm on the Kawasaki over the past three rounds.

The reigning World Superbike champion looked in irresistible form last time out in Misano - taking a double victory weekend - which saw him extend his lead to 66 points over nearest rival Tom Sykes.

With a comfortable margin Rea is not looking to make any radical changes in order to maintain his momentum heading to the iconic Laguna Seca circuit.

Since the Californian circuit returned to the World Superbike calendar in 2013, it remains one of just a handful of tracks Rea is yet to win at which is something he'll been keen to change this weekend.

"I am so excited to go to Laguna because I really enjoy the fly away races," Rea said. "Last year the race weekend was quite nice because we were not so far from the race victories - two times in third place.

"In the past three rounds I have felt really good on the bike and I am looking forward to taking the Ninja there after two weeks of hanging out in Italy after the race and tests in Misano, just preparing for the Laguna race.

"There is a lot of enthusiastic support from the American side, especially for Kawasaki as well, and I am excited to go there and get amongst it."
