Jonathan Rea has topped the final free practice session in the wet as the World Superbike grid quickly got up to speed in the rain at the Lausitzring.

After FP3 was suspended by around 30 minutes due to heavy rain the World Superbike riders were eventually sent out for their maiden running in the wet at the German track.

Looking to test the limits on the wet tyres, Alex Lowes slipped off at turn 13 on his Pata Yamaha while Markus Reiterberger and Nicky Hayden also suffered falls during the 15-minute session.

With Rea posting the top time ahead of his Superpole 1 berth in qualifying Davide Giugliano claimed second in the short session ahead of IodaRacing Aprilia's Alex de Angelis.

Sylvain Guintoli continued to produce a strong showing on his competitive comeback since breaking his ankle in May with fourth place ahead of Xavi Fores and Michael van der Mark.

Wet weather specialist Anthony West rose to seventh late on as Leon Camier, Tom Sykes and Chaz Davies rounded out the top ten ahead of a wet qualifying.
