Spies is a great rider....but it looks like the new R1 is a pretty good bike too, based on Sykes rapid rise as well. Apparently it conserves its tires rather well. How Suzuki let spies get away is a mystery. Maybe nothing more banal than stupidity. They had a choice of Spies or a 34 y/o Caparossi. That choice should have been a "no-brainer."
