@ Slick, is that what they told you over there :) The 1098 designate was not to make any hint of reference to previous 999 designate, considered a bit of a flop sales wise originally, controversial.. then reduced prices and specs to sell them successfully but a great bike nonetheless..the same way the 849cc *848* is branded such and not make any such 'notion' of 749..both were accurate cc but in 'R' only...the rest a cc shy. Maybe they have an '849' tax form to 'avoid' there also :)EDIT: Ok, I'll conceded it makes good marketing sense to 'avoid reference to tax code' or such but it's still not a Ducati Italy notion to form that because of that..sounds good though :)
